Because the hobby is so engrossing and time consuming, there comes a time when you hit a wall, and have no inspiration or creativity for the hobby. I went through a long period of time where I didn't touch a model, let alone put any paint on one. It's only in the past 12 months that I have really got back into war gaming and painting.
Joining Noobs has given me a new focus. I post every Sunday at 5pm and I have found a few things that work and some that don't.
I started with the obligatory Work in Progress shots of models I'm working on, ran with that for a few weeks and got some good page views. Then I added painting guides with Stage-by-Stage colour recipes. These were really popular, and were hitting the 1000-1500 views. I haven't done many of those, but I am aiming to make them a regular feature - at least once a month, possibly twice.
A new idea was born but a few weeks ago. I received my first subscription to Model Box. Model Box is a subscription service that you receive once a month. Each box is themed and has all sorts of good stuff in there, from models to paints, paint brushes to scenery. Even dice!
There were two models in the July subscription (the theme was Flesh. I also got two flesh coloured paints and a brush.) The Feral Nexus, by Icarus Miniatures and the Dwarf Wild Warrior, by Scibor Miniatures. Both of these models are fantastic, and were really fun to paint.

I painted the Feral Nexus in around 4 hours, which gave me an idea. Why not set a painting challenge with a time limit? After a brief discussion with my fellow Noob, Alex, we decided 4 hours was cutting it fine. Thus the 5 Hour Painting Challenge was born!

I painted the Scibor Miniatures Wild Dwarf Warrior in just under 4 hours. Although this gave me one hour to do more work on the model, I felt that I had put enough into the model.
I will still continue to blog for Noobs, but add additional content to my own blog.
Stay tuned for more.
